LOYALSOCK TOWNSHIP, PA — A gold and silver dealer from Lycoming County found their coffers lightened earlier this month because state police say one or more thieves plundered in excess of a quarter-million dollars from a van in Loyalsock Township.
Just who did it, as of Tuesday, remained unknown.
State police in Montoursville said the theft happened the evening of Feb. 10 on Blair Street. Someone broke into a Ford Transit Connect parked there belonging to a gold and silver dealer from Williamsport.
Inside, the crooks found coins, silver bars and currency valued at nearly $300,000, according to state police.
The state police did not identify the collector targeted. However, a spokeswoman for the Montoursville barracks said the dealer had recently been to a coin and stamp show out of state.
