WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Officials with the Williamsport Area School District say there will be increased security at the high school after a student brought a handgun to the school.
The handgun was found during a search of the student's belongings at Williamsport Area High School on Wednesday.
School officials say no threats were made, and the weapon was never displayed.
The student was immediately placed in Pennsylvania State Police custody following the discovery.
There is no word yet on what charges the student will face.
The school district plans to increase police presence as a precaution for the next few days at the school in Lycoming County.
