Girls With Game Experience set for Little League complex in Lycoming County

It's all about the girls this weekend in South Williamsport. Little League International is hosting its second Girls With Game Experience on Saturday.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The field at Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport looks a bit different than usual. Both the pitcher's mound and infield have been completely skinned for this weekend's Girls with Game Experience.

"This is the biggest stage for Little League, so for it to be a softball field is very special. I think every out-of-towner coming in this weekend is like, 'Wow, this is amazing,'" said Ashlea Miller, Little League's director of softball development.

On Saturday, the Penn State, Maryland, Army, and Bucknell softball teams will travel to South Williamsport to play two exhibition games.

Everyone is welcome to watch.

"It is absolutely free—free parking, free admission. And so we hope that all the families bring out their family and friends and enjoy the wonderful evening of softball," Miller said.

Before the games begin, players and coaches from each program will host a softball clinic for more than 150 girls, ages 9 to 14. Registration for the clinic is full.

"They will get to learn infield, outfield, baserunning, confidence, and goals."

This is the second year that Little League has hosted the Girls With Game Experience.

Miller says that with softball returning to the Olympics in 2028, it's important to get young kids interested in the sport.

"The goal is just to get the word out about softball, Little League softball, to help grow the game at the grassroots level. This is one way we can do this at the community level."

The first pitch for the first game is 2 p.m. on Saturday. You can also watch the games HERE.
