Newswatch 16's Mackenzie Aucker stopped by to see all the prep work that happens before the first pitch.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The grounds crew and staff are getting ready for the Williamsport Crosscutters opening night at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport. They've been preparing for months.

"As soon as we end our the last season, we're starting to work on the next season, so nine months of work that culminates tonight at 6:35 for our first pitch, so we're excited," said Gabe Sinicropi, vice president of marketing for the Williamsport Crosscutters.

During those nine months, staff work on selling sponsorships and ticket packages and putting together everything the team needs for a successful opening night.

"We work hard in the offseason on food and beverage, on promotions, all the things that we give away that we do between innings and pre-game and post-game, so a lot of work in the off-season, but we can't wait to get it started," Sinicropi said.

There's a lot of prep work that goes on at Historic Bowman Field for opening night.

"Introducing the full teams—the 'Cutters, and the visitors, Mahoning Valley—out to the foul lines, ceremonial first pitches, great promotions, all that stuff all happening on opening night as we get things underway."

This season at the ballpark, there are new food and beverage options, such as signature beer through the Bullfrog Brewery and a new food concession stand.

"The world-famous Gunzey's hot sausage that you get at all the fairs around Pennsylvania are now available here at Journey Bank Ballpark, along with their great mac 'n' cheese bowls, brisket cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks, and more."
