Former Williamsport finance director faces theft charges

William Nichols faces theft charges for allegedly misusing more than $500,000 in city, state, and federal funds.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Williamsport's former finance director faces theft charges.

The state attorney general says 71-year-old William Nichols misused more than $500,000 in city, state, and federal funds.

Most of that money was set aside for the city's public transportation system, River Valley Transit.

Nichols allegedly used the money for other city projects and to fund a non-profit he was part of.

Nichols is due back in court in November.
