Crews rescue residents, pet from flood waters in Lycoming County

Newswatch 16's Mackenzie Aucker has the latest on the rain in Lycoming County

LYCOMING COUNTY, Pa. — "I mean there was a foot and a half of water running down here and like I said I got my car out just in time before it was ready to roll inside the door you know and like I said—I said earlier there I turned around there's my dog swimming like crazy he's about ready to get swept away and I'm like—so I threw him in the truck and I moved the truck and came inside and just hope for the best." said Gary Yaw of Hepburn Township.

Yaw told us residents were rescued from the area near Long Run Creek earlier after water from the creek began to rise. He says the heavy rain started coming down near Cogan Station around seven Friday morning.

At the time, he was running three pumps to get water out of his basement. He had another basement door closed where he believed there was about five feet of water on the other side of the door.

"It got water, it's gonna need to be all cleaned out and it'll be a mess." said Yaw.

Robin Hannan from Old Lycoming Township says it's flooded in the township before but not this bad.

"And they had put rocks on this side of it cause to stop it from flooding, they made the holes in the stream bigger so the water can go through, sometimes you get trees and stuff blocking up here and then it floods too." said Hannan.

Hannan also tells us her fiancé's mother's house got hit hard with flooding.
