ENDWELL, NEW YORK -- It was a big welcome home to Endwell, New York for the 2016 Little League World Series Champions.

People lined the streets to cheer on the team that won it all in South Williamsport.

"It's unbelievable. It's definitely the biggest thing that has ever happened here," Lynne Calvey said.

Maine-Endwell didn't just win the championship, they're also the first team from the United States to win the Little League title since 2011.

"It's actually really amazing just seeing where they came from and how far they came," Alana Aufiere said.

"Very happy to see a local team from a small community be so successful," Paul Czebiniak said.

The boys started the season in April and won every game including the Little League World Series title game.

They also won the sportsmanship award. Players on the team say initially, their goal was just getting to the Little League World Series.

"Ever since the tournament before districts we called it the M-E tournament, we held it here. Everyone got asked  what their goal was and we all said Williamsport. We accomplished that goal and we accomplished much more than that too," Jayden Fanara of Maine-Endwell said.

Back at their home field, hundreds celebrated the new Little League World Champions.

Many in the community are calling the boys legendary.

"Be legendary means to go out there and make a play and don't be afraid and like show off, and like represent yourself the correct way," Michael Mancini of Maine-Endwell said.

It's something coach Joe Mancini has tried to teach his son and also the other boys on the team.

Getting to enjoy the Little League World Series games as a father-son duo has made the entire experience extra special.

"I get to see everything from the inside, how he handled himself with the international teams, how all the teams loved him. They all knew his name. As a father that's what made me proud," Joe Mancini said.
