MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. — A Geisinger life flight crew talks with a man and his family at the airport in Montoursville. The medical crew is meeting Kevin Mazzarella and his family from Bucks County.
"We really do get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing folks who are—who we were able to help in their moment of need and then getting them to the right place to get the care that they need to get well, and his progress has been absolutely amazing," said Jack Blesse, flight paramedic, Geisinger Life Flight.
Mazzarella suffered a serious head injury last year while staying in Williamsport. A life flight helicopter flew him to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville. Flight nurse Nicole Barrett says it's amazing to see Mazzarella's recovery.
"All the progress that he's made and it's wonderful to be a part of that care to transition him from where he was to where he needed to go to get these improvements that he got and have his life back," said Barrett.
Kevin's mother Angela Mazzarella is thankful.
"I am so grateful for this and I'm glad they finally came because it'll be two years in February and I didn't want any more time to go by and it was a beautiful day for it, real nice, and to see the helicopter up close is—everything is so amazing everybody's been so great," she said.
"Rescue people can do that everywhere, you know so, they were able to keep me—keep me there, you know a chance to survive so," said Kevin.
Kevin is still undergoing rehabilitation as he continues to recover from his injuries.
