WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Things are heating up in the American Rescue Workers' kitchen in Williamsport. The organization is preparing for its Thanksgiving meal.
"Deboning and taking off parts of the turkey now. This morning when I came in, I sautéed some celery, onions, and carrots for stuffing," said chef Mark Williams.
"We are estimating about 400 meals that we will be serving out," Melanie Shutt said.
Chef Mark Williams has worked at American Rescue Workers for five years. He says providing people with a holiday meal is special. Every year, he strives to feed even more people in need.
"I love Thanksgiving. It is giving thanks, a word of action. I always feel like I wish I can feed one more person. I wish I could go 15 minutes longer because somebody is going to pull up, and they are going to need to eat something," Williams said.
The chef also told us what people can expect to find in their Thanksgiving meal.
"We have our turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, gravy, pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce."
The meal is free and will be distributed at the American Rescue Workers headquarters along Elmira Street.
"You just go to our donation dock, and you can drive up or walk up to pick up your meals," said Shutt, ARW's community engagement coordinator.
You can show up to get your meal on Thanksgiving at 11 a.m.
