School district partners with nonprofit in Luzerne County

The Wyoming Area School District is partnering with the help of a foundation to begin its first big renovation project.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — The Wyoming Area School District is getting funding help from a nonprofit to work on its first big renovation project in Luzerne County.

The new partnership is between the district and the Wyoming Area Foundation. The foundation is a mix of faculty, administration, community members, and student representatives.

The Wyoming Area Foundation was formed earlier this year, and all the money for the foundation comes from private sources. The foundation then matches with public dollars that the district puts in to drive larger improvement projects in the school district.

"The foundation wants to work specifically with our students and our faculty to really learn of what they believe the district needs," said Cassandra Coleman, Wyoming Foundation President.

The foundation's first big project includes renovating the Wyoming Area Auditorium.
