LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — The Department of Environmental Protection is working on a permanent fix for an opening on Toby Creek near the site of a previous mine subsidence reported in April.
Work is supposed to start next week after DEP crews were alerted to another opening in the creek over the weekend. Officials say the opening is causing water loss on the creek.
The DEP said in a statement that they will work on a more permanent fix for the subsidence and fill the spaces.
"The Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation is working on a more permanent fix on Toby Creek in Luzerne County to fill the spaces between the large rock that was discovered over the weekend."
There is no word yet on how long the work on the creek in Luzerne County will take to complete.
