BENTON — A woman hiking in a Luzerne County state park fell nearly 50 feet near a waterfall on Saturday afternoon.
Rescue teams responded to Ricketts Glen State Park in Benton around 3:00 p.m.
Rangers said the trail where the woman fell is miles inside the park which made it difficult for rescue teams to respond quickly.
Crews took precautions while attempting to reach the woman and planned the rescue carefully because of the terrain. Teams took hours to carry the victim to safely.
No word on the name of the woman or the severity of the injuries.
An investigation is underway.
