WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A wintery event took place on Saturday in Luzerne County.
The Riverfront Parks Committee hosted WinterFest at Nesbitt Park in Wilkes-Barre.
There were all kinds of activities and environmental exhibits for people to enjoy and check out.
Those who stopped by Winterfest could also participate in guided walks and learn about different kinds of trees and birds.
Organizers say the goal of the event was for people to learn new things about the environment.
"Our goal here is to teach something so someone can walk away from here and say 'Gee, I learned something about winter that happens in the environment that I didn't know about before.' And that is why we are excited about doing this," said John Maday, Executive Director of the Riverfront Parks Committee.
Several organizations and area universities also helped WinterFest go on.
