WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Veteran's Affairs Hospital near Wilkes-Barre is hosting a creative arts competition for local veterans. The VA holds national arts competitions every year, which showcase more than 100 categories in art, music, dance, drama, and creative writing.
Kristie Kendrick is the VA recreation Therapist and says, "All the veterans here really benefit from all the creative arts that we do here, and it's a nice outlet and opportunity for them to share their skills and their talent, so it's really important, and they really enjoy it."
This is the sixteenth year of the arts competition, which aims to promote recovery through creative arts therapy and raise the visibility of veteran artists.
