WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A restaurant in Wilkes-Barre is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Abe's Hot Dogs on Barney Street held a big party Saturday afternoon.
There was free food, including ice cream and hot dogs, along with live music.
Folks could also take part in a raffle for anniversary shirts and hats and free tickets to a Phillies game.
"We're the first hot dog restaurant in Wilkes Barre; over 100 years ago, Abe Obeid, my great grandfather, brought the business to the community and changed kind of the way luncheons were thought of at the time. It's been our American dream. It's been my great grandfather's American dream to come start a business when he immigrated here from Syria to America. And now it's gotten to us to lead our own dream. So this business has meant everything to us," said Hunter Obeid, Abe's Hot Dogs.
Officials from the city joined in the centennial celebration in Wilkes-Barre.
