West Wyoming stabbing suspect in custody

Just after 11:30pm Thursday, Chief Turner confirmed to Newswatch 16 that the suspect in the West Wyoming stabbing is in custody.

WEST WYOMING, Pa. — Just after 11:30 pm Thursday, Chief Turner from the Wyoming Area Regional Police confirmed to Newswatch 16 that the suspect in the West Wyoming stabbing is in custody. 

ORIGINAL STORY: 

Off-road vehicles and several units from Wyoming Area Regional Police headed into a wooded area near the corner of Tripp and Sperlazzo in West Wyoming Thursday night after reports of a stabbing around 6:30 p.m.

"We were dispatched to a wooded area off of Tripp Street in West Wyoming for a report of a male stabbed in the leg." Said Chief Micheal Turner from the Wyoming Area Regional Police. 

Chief Turner says the victim was found in the woods with injuries that are not life-threatening and was transported to a nearby hospital.

State Police and the West Wyoming Fire Department were also on scene.

"There is no danger to the public. We are actively investigating this incident and we will do everything we can to apprehend the suspect," said Turner.

Chief Turner says several units are out right now investigating possible tips. He is hopeful that the suspect will be caught sometime soon.
