PITTSTON -- Waters Edge in Pittston has 30 condominiums available and views of the Susquehanna River that might be difficult to find anywhere else.
"I think if you went 100 miles in any direction, you're not gonna find a living quarters like this, that's overlooking the Susquehanna River,” said Ben Piccillo, a realtor with Century 21. He says the market for luxury living in Pittston is hot. Even though Waters Edge is still under construction, people have already put down deposits for 18 of its units.
"This town will build up, and that's the exciting part,” he said.
Waters Edge isn't the only new place to live in Pittston. The Newrose Building is being renovated into 8 loft-style apartments. And the bottom floor will feature three retail shops, including a teashop and home decor store.
City leaders say those and other newly developed properties are good for all of Pittston.
“I think it shows that the city is on the move. In the next 16 months you'll see the delivery of about $32 million of new construction onto the taxrolls,” said Mike Lombardo of the Pittston Redevelopment Authority.
"There's gonna be a time when people say let's go to Pittston, and I haven't heard that a very long time. So I am pretty excited about all the projects going on,” added Piccillo.
The Waters Edge building is expected to be ready for people to move in to by Thanksgiving.
