LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A Luzerne County volunteer firefighter faces charges after officials say he shot at teenagers in June.

Officials say James Lockwood, 23, called the police, reporting he was struck by a vehicle in Hazle Township on June 15. Lockwood told police he was a volunteer firefighter for the Harwood Volunteer Fire Company and heard a vehicle operating on the company's private property.

Lockwood said he yelled to notify the operator that they were trespassing, and the Jeep accelerated towards him and struck him, then fled the location.

Officials were able to make contact with one of the teenager's parents, who mentioned that his 15-year-old son was shot at while driving his jeep with two other minors in the vehicle. There was a bullet hole in the front side of the Jeep.

One of the minors stated that two shots were fired, and then they made the turn to hit Lockwood.

Lockwood initially denied having a firearm, then later admitted to carrying one after all three victims identified him as the shooter. Lockwood surrendered his 9mm semi-automatic that belonged to a family member.

He now faces charges of aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, and recklessly endangering another person.
