Vigil held in Downtown Wilkes-Barre for women connected to gruesome crime in home on Carlisle Street

Friends and family gathered at the Public Square in Wilkes-Barre on Friday evening to remember Nicole Cuevas and Debra Fox.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A vigil was held in Downtown Wilkes-Barre on Friday evening to remember the two victims connected to gruesome crimes at a home in South Wilkes-Barre.

Friends and family gathered at the Public Square to remember Nicole Cuevas and Debra Fox. According to the Luzerne County District Attorney, Cuevas was tortured, killed, and then buried inside the home on Carlisle Street

The body of Debra Fox, who used to be the homeowner, was found in a wooded area near the Cross Valley expressway last month

"They took advantage of the weak, the innocent, the poor, it's just not right," said Patricia London, vigil organizer.

"She's a kind, nice-hearted person; she would help anybody that needed help," said Melissa Fox, Debra Fox's daughter. "She took people in and gave them places to stay, and this is how she got treated in return."

Five people are locked up on homicide charges for Nicole Cuevas' death. Debra Fox's death remains under investigation.
