LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Folks gathered in the Agolino's parking lot in West Pittston on Sunday, where the West Pittston American Legion 1st Lt. Jeffrey F. DePrimo Post 542 hosted a Corvette car show and basket raffle.
Since 2000, the legion has been hosting the event for fans of corvettes, and veterans are invited to show off their hot rods and help raise money for a cause the post will give to different community groups as well as a scholarship fund set up in honor of 1st Lieutenant Jeffrey F. DePrimo of Pittston who died in 2008 while serving in Afghanistan.
"This is just a way for people to express their patriotism and to support those that they live around," said Ron Gitkos, Commander of American Legion Post #542.
Close to 100 corvettes were on display at the event in Luzerne County.
