LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — With Valentine's Day being less than two weeks away, one business in Luzerne County held a special shopping event.
The Back Mountain Makery sells handmade items from multiple vendors. On Sunday, several other vendors, including a hair salon, set up shop there. Proceeds from the salon's hair extensions and tinsel will go to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
Organizers say the event helps encourage folks to shop local and also gives artists a place to show their work.
"We're all about the handmade local shopping instead of those big box stores, you know, it gives you a sense of community for all of our artists, and it gives them, you know, a little home," said Tanya Sakulich, owner of the Back Mountain Makery.
The Back Mountain Makery is also celebrating its first anniversary in Luzerne County.
