LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — State police are warning people about mailbox fishing thefts in and around the Hazleton area.
Troopers say somebody is using a sticky substance to pull mail from blue USPS collection boxes.
The thieves take checks, cash, and other valuable documents.
Authorities with the post office say to avoid becoming a victim, do not place mail in mailboxes overnight, and hand-deliver your mail to a postal worker or use a mail slot at the post office.
