Trick or treating at Penn State Hazleton

Families were invited to Penn State Hazleton's annual trick-or-treat event on Thursday.

HAZLETON, Pa. — Kids in Luzerne County showed off their Halloween costumes a week early.

Penn State Hazleton hosted its Trick-or-Treat event on Thursday. The free family event was held at the Sports and Recreation Field, where students, faculty, and staff gave candy to about 500 kids.

The Penn State Hazleton Lion Ambassadors, a student-led organization that brings together campus and community members, organized the event.

"I just really like getting involved with the community. I think it's really fun to come see all the kids dressed up in their costumes and see how happy they get to see us dressed up. It's just a really good time," said Lion Ambassadors President Emily Barna.

This was the third year of the event.

"The Lion Ambassadors have planned this event for several years as outreach to the community and look forward to providing another fun, safe environment for kids to celebrate Halloween with their local Penn State campus," added Barna.

Donations were collected during the event to benefit the student-run philanthropy THON.
