Traffic alert for Kamala Harris's visit to Wilkes-Barre

Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Wilkes-Barre for a campaign rally on Friday.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Drivers in Luzerne County can expect delays and road closures on Friday as Vice President Kamala Harris visits for a campaign rally.

It will be Harris' third stop in the Keystone state this week. On Tuesday night, the vice president and former President Trump faced off on the debate stage in Philadelphia.

Both candidates were back in Pennsylvania less than 24 hours later for a 9/11 memorial service in Shanksville.

Harris's 'New Way Forward Tour' will bring her to Wilkes University. Officials have not announced when Harris' rally will start on Friday.

What to know:

Academy, Market and River Streets will all be closed sporadically throughout the day. Those closures will also impact George Avenue and Wilkes-Barre Boulevard.

Police say others delays and closures are expected on Interstate 81 and Route 309.
