Former Crestwood band director sentenced on sex crimes

Theron Roberts has been sentenced on charges of corruption of minors, institutional sexual assault, and indecent assault.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Former Crestwood School District band director Theron Roberts has been sentenced. 

Roberts was initially charged in 2021 on charges of corruption of minors, institutional sexual assault, and indecent assault.

A judge in Luzerne County declared a mistrial at Roberts' first trial in September 2023.

On June 27th, a jury found Roberts guilty of illegal and inappropriate contact with a student in 2019.

He remained on bail until Friday when he was sentenced to six to 23 and a half months in prison with three years of probation. 

Roberts will have to register as a tier III lifetime sex offender.
