WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Commission on Economic Opportunity/Weinberg Regional Food Bank held a Thanksgiving food giveaway at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Township on Saturday.
The food bank handed out all the fixings needed for a Thanksgiving dinner.
Volunteers say it's great to be able to help people have a special holiday meal.
"The joy of seeing the families come through knowing they're going to have a holiday meal, but also for our volunteers that get to experience Helping others; that's why they're here to help. It gives them a true experience in that," said Jennifer Warabak, Executive Director for the Commission on Economic Opportunity/Weinberg Northeastern Regional Food Bank
Volunteers say they typically see thousands of people register for the food giveaway each year here in Luzerne County.
