'Stuff The Zamboni' school drive held in Luzerne County

The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins teamed up with United Way on Thursday to distribute school supplies to local districts.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins teamed up with United Way Thursday night for the second annual "Stuff the Zamboni" school drive.

At the hockey team's practice facility on Coal Street, people could stop by and drop off items, which will help fill 34 nurses' pantry programs in 10 local school districts.

"Just stocking them with school supplies,  personal hygiene products—Things a lot of kids don't have access to," said Amanda Cromer.

There were also some raffles and prizes for whoever donated items.

We’re out at Coal Street, ready to ‘Stuff the Zam!’ We’ll be here until 7pm collecting school and personal hygiene supplies for local Nurse’s Pantry programs! United Way of Wyoming Valley
