LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Seven students were taken to the hospital after a crash in Luzerne County Thursday afternoon.
Hazle Township units were called to a crash along the intersection of West 24th Street and Alter Street around 4 p.m. A private van company transporting students crashed into trees with several injuries after the vehicle allegedly had an issue with the brakes.
The 33-year-old female driver safely navigated the van through several intersections and crashed into the trees behind the Hazleton Apartments, where it stopped.
Officials tell Newswatch 16 the van was dropping off students of various ages.

The seven students were taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton for suspected minor injuries and were released to their parents. The driver did not report any injuries.
The van was towed from the scene.
