MOUNTAIN TOP, Pa. — Students from around the county danced the morning away at Crestwood High School in Luzerne County for the second annual Fun in the Sun dance for students with special needs.
More than 150 students from ten schools got to shake the school year away during the luau-themed celebration.
"Last year, we did it a little bit different. We had a different type of photo booth, and this year, we have a big photo booth and then we have a smaller, like, step and repeat. So, it'll be nice to see the two different photo options, how it goes, but last year the kids just had a blast," said life skills teacher Suzanne Popko.
Popko says they have about 50 more students this year.
For those who wanted a break from all the moving and grooving, they could stop for a quick photo op, get tattoos, or a face painting.
Popko says the number of volunteers who help run the dance is up from last year, with some repeat volunteers who recruited others.
"It was just the energy. It was amazing seeing them all with smiles on their faces, having the time of their life," said freshman Emily Wyda
"It's just like so much of a different environment, and it's such great energy like doing this," said freshman Sierra Strungas.
"I just liked helping others and being with everyone," said freshman Julie Peterlin. "It was really fun."
