Storms leave hundreds without power in Luzerne County

Storms rolled through northeastern and central Pennsylvania Wednesday evening, bringing down trees and leaving hundreds in the dark.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — The storms that rolled through northeastern and central Pennsylvania Wednesday evening brought down trees and power lines in Luzerne County.

Newswatch 16 found a tree down on Alden Mountain Road near Nanticoke.

Crews cut up and removed the tree around 8 p.m.

Power lines are also down, leaving many in the dark.

According to UGI, 1,581 homes and businesses are without power in Newport Township.
