HAZLETON, Pa. — The State Department of Health says a hospital in Luzerne County put babies' lives at risk.
A report states that on-call pediatricians at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton were late three times between June 2023 and January.
In two of the cases, newborns died shortly after birth from complications related to collapsed lungs. In another case, the pediatrician couldn't be reached and didn't call back until an hour later.
The Department of Health laid out new rules for pediatricians.
Newswatch 16 reached out to Lehigh Valley for comment and have not heard back.
