WILKES-BARRE -- Some roller girls faced off in Wilkes-Barre to help young children suffering from a progressive neurological disorder.

The Scranton Roller Radicals hosted a derby at the Skateaway on Blackman Street.

The derby benefits research for the disease H-ABC in honor of a young boy Josh Haydt who suffers from the disorder.

H-ABC affects young children causing them to lose normal motor function.

Josh's mother tells Newswatch 16 his aunt is a member of the Scranton roller team and wanted to help raise money for a cure.

She said, “I'm so thankful. Any little bit will help fund research to find a cure for what he has."

The Scranton Roller Radicals battled Fredericksburg Roller Derby of Virginia during Sunday’s derby in Wilkes-Barre.
