WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Members of the Shapiro Administration toured the Murray-Smith Furniture Company building along South Main Street on Tuesday.
The bottom floor of the space is being converted into an early learning center, and the upper floors are being renovated into more than 30 apartments.
"This is amazing! the last time I was here, there wasn't a window. It was basically just a warehouse; I mean, there's a lot of empty space, but what a transformation. This alley is gorgeous so much potential," said Rick Vilello, Department of Community and Economic Development.
The project was made possible by a Neighborhood Assistance Program Award, a tax credit program that encourages businesses to invest in projects that improve distressed areas.
