NANTICOKE, Pa. — Luzerne County Council is considering a few options for the bridge that connects Nanticoke and West Nanticoke
One option is a partial replacement, using some of the current structure but widening the lanes.
Another is a complete replacement.
According to a new report on the county council's agenda, an engineering firm recommends replacing the bulk of the structure in the same spot and updating some of the bridge's existing foundation.
"There's a lot of elderly people that live down in here and that's a nice easy ride for them to get over and get the things that they need without having to drive down to the newer bridge and go around. I think this bridge is a huge asset to everybody that lives down in this area," said Janine Halchak, West Nanticoke.
County council has not said when to expect a final decision on the future of the bridge in Nanticoke.
