PLAINS, Pa. — A fleet of snow plows is gearing up at Green Valley Landscaping in Plains Township for possibly the first big job of the season.
"As far as snow coming. I mean, we haven't really had much, just a couple of spritzes of it," said Owner Jerry Natishan. "And you know we like to have a storm or two early on so we can kind of prepare for it and make sure all our equipment's up and running properly and everything like that, but unfortunately, we haven't had it. You know, we'll see what happens."
So crews here are making sure the first plow of the season will run smoothly by going through a very long equipment checklist.
"Make sure all the good tires, tire pressures, and all the old fluids are good. And then we put every plow on chicory plug grease and make sure all the lights work on every vehicle. Make sure all the salt spreaders are working. nothing's binding up. Make sure you have enough salt and calcium and get everybody lined up with trucks they're going to run," explained maintenance supervisor Stephen Sincavage.
More than 60 commercial clients will be depending on the work of the mechanics in this shop.
"Some of the universities we help out at some of the hospitals, their satellite offices and things like that. Banks, hotels,' added Natishan.
So for the first one of the season, Green Valley is hoping there's not too much snow headed our way.
"I'm hoping it stays on the lighter side a little bit. Kurt seems to always scare me a little bit. So we'll see what happens," he added.
