KINGSTON -- A body was found in Luzerne County Wednesday morning after police were called out to a hit and run and a stabbing.
It all began when police responded to the hit and run and to the stabbing in Kingston.
Kingston police held a news conference Wednesday afternoon and say they haven't seen anything this violent before with a domestic dispute. Authorities say the person behind all the violence is one man, who later killed himself.
Police arrived to a report of stabbing Wednesday morning in Kingston. But it quickly snowballed into much more.
They found a man stabbed in the face and a woman injured after being run over by a car on Pulaski Street.
Police believe the man behind it all is Melvin Eltora, 46, who had a relationship with the 30-year-old woman victim.
Police say the pair were fighting when the woman's friend intervened and was then allegedly stabbed by Eltora.
We spoke with the mother of the stabbing victim who arrived to the scene shortly after her son was injured.
"He's bleeding. I was over in Forty Fort. I'm his mom, I don't know anything."
Therese Harrison works at a nearby bar. She says she saw a man that may have been waiting for the victims before committing those violent acts.
"I just saw him pull up over the curb and hit the girl and he ran right into the building," said Harrison. "I can't get the picture out of my head. I'm still shaking!"
Shortly after police arrived to this scene in Kingston, they were called to the Luzerne Shopping Center, about a mile away. That's where they discovered a mean dead inside a blue Oldsmobile in a parking lot.
"It's two different scenes but they're definitely related," said Kingston detective Ed Palka.
Detective Palka believes Melvin Eltora stabbed and killed himself, after injuring two victims in a hit-and-run crash after leaving the scene of the stabbing.
Edwardsville police had actually filed charges against Eltora Tuesday, after the woman run over told police Eltora kidnapped her and tried breaking her neck on Monday after she told him she wanted to go to a male friend's house.
The female victim just left the hospital Tuesday from her prior injuries.
"In the time that I've been here, I don't remember anything quite like this, I mean quite a lot of violence with this," Detective Palka added.
"Reminded me of being back in the service," said Joe Bates.
Bates is a veteran who says he saw that the woman lost a lot of blood after being hit by a car and pinned against this building. He jumped in to help her.
"The girl was really worried about losing her foot and we were just trying to keep her not looking at that and try to make her feel decent."
"I know the gentleman, not know him personally, who got stabbed," said Harrison. "He lives across the street here. And he's a very nice guy; he doesn't bother anybody."
Police say both victims are expected to survive and are being treated at a nearby hospital.
