Plymouth Kielbasa Fest celebrates 20 years

Kielbasa is a beloved food here in northeastern and central Pennsylvania. Plymouth is celebrating 20 years.

PLYMOUTH, Pa. — Main Street in Plymouth will be filled with food and craft vendors this weekend for the borough's 20th annual Kielbasa Festival, which kicks off Friday at noon.

Alexis Eroh is the president of Plymouth Alive, and she says, "The festival Started as a smaller festival and has grown into two days with about 100 vendors.  We have twelve kielbasa vendors this year.  We're exceptionally excited about that."

One of those vendors is Polish Connection, which has been attending the Plymouth Kielbasa Festival for eight years.

Marie Ondish shares some of the samplings, "We do kielbasa reubens, kielbasa sandwiches fresh and smoked, we do our pierogis, potato pancakes, haluskis, we have piggies."

In addition to food and craft vendors, live music will be played throughout the two-day event.

Children's activities, a parade, and a kielbasa tasting competition will also be held.

Plymouth Alive organizes the event. All proceeds from t-shirt sales and vendor fees go back into the community.

The funds are used throughout the year to donate to the town's youth soccer, cheerleading, and football programs, the Plymouth Public Library, and other organizations like the Historical Society and the historical Shawnee Cemetery.

The event will be held rain or shine, and vendors are looking forward to it.

Ondish says, "We were born and raised in Plymouth, so to stay Plymouth proud and to help keep Plymouth strong, we love it."

The Plymouth Kielbasa Festival kicks off Friday at noon and runs through Saturday night on Main Street in Plymouth.
