WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — An event returned to Luzerne County Sunday with the hope of spreading awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding substance abuse.
The 12th annual Overdose Awareness Day was held at Kirby Park, hosted by the NEPA Chapter of GRASP (Grief Recovery After Substance Passing).
The free event included Narcan training, information tables, and a memory walk.
Organizers say the event helps connect people impacted by substance abuse.
"It's just a blessing. It's a blessing to be with other people that have lost someone, you know, grief can be a very lonely experience, but when you are with people who have gone through the same thing, it can be a blessing to have those kind of people with you," said Carol Coolbaugh, organizer.
The event concluded with a balloon release in Wilkes-Barre.
