WYOMING, Pa. — A new Sheetz convenience store is officially open on Thursday in Luzerne County.
The Sheetz along Wyoming Avenue in Wyoming had its grand opening Thursday morning. The store will be open 24/7.
It's been in the works since last summer. Crews had to knock down a historic home on the corner of 6th Street to make room for it. A petition to stop the store's construction gained nearly 200 signatures. However, it's still expected to be a popular spot.
Newswatch 16 found people filling their tanks and grabbing something to eat at the new location this afternoon.
"It's convenient because my fiance works right across the bridge, so it's convenient," said Sherry Nelson of Larksville.
This is the chain's 8th store in Luzerne County.
