LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Air travelers leaving from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) on American Airlines can soon connect through Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) by motorcoach.
Beginning August 6, buses will operate four times a day in each direction between AVP and Philly.
The new service allows passengers to clear security at AVP and board a motorcoach to Philadelphia's Terminal F. Travelers will not have to clear security again and can walk to their gate.
American Airlines and The Landline Company are operating the service. The two companies run the same service from Allentown to Philadelphia.
Bags are handled in the same way as any flight: passengers check their luggage with American Airlines on arrival, and the airport's baggage handling system handles it from there.
When returning to AVP from Philadelphia, passengers will board the motorcoach airside and arrive nonstop directly at AVP. Checked baggage will be directly transferred between the motorcoaches and aircraft.
Additionally, customers can earn and redeem AAdvantage miles using these new connecting Landline "flights."
