Celebration of life planned for Nanticoke Coach Scott Dennis

A difficult start to the season tonight as the Nanticoke football team will take to the field without their head coach.

NANTICOKE, Pa. — The Nanticoke High School football team is mourning the loss of their head coach.

Coach Scott Dennis died earlier this week at his home, shortly after leaving practice.

The team decided to play its game tonight, at home hosting North Pocono.

A celebration of life will be held tomorrow at 1pm at Saint John's United Church of Christ in Wapwallopen.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations to the Nanticoke High School football team.

Dennis was in his first season with the Trojans as their new head coach in the Wyoming Valley Conference and District II Football. He took over the program earlier this year.

Dennis was a longtime assistant coach at Berwick and then a head coach at Holy Redeemer and Central Columbia High Schools.
