NANTICOKE, Pa. — The bridge over the Susquehanna River, which connects Nanticoke and the West Nanticoke area of Plymouth Township, will close for inspection Monday morning, according to the Nanticoke City Fire Department.
Officials say the bridge will close at 7 a.m. Monday and remain closed through 6 p.m. Wednesday for inspection.
Crews say the inspection will include ultrasonic testing of the truss pins, so the bridge must be closed in order to perform the work safely.
The fire department recommends that drivers cross the river using the nearby bridge on Route 29/South Cross Valley Expressway.
Following the most recent inspection report, the bridge's weight limit was lowered earlier this year from 15 tons to 5 tons.
