Mother sent to prison for fentanyl death of infant

Jennifer Travinski of Larksville was sentenced Monday in Luzerne County court for the death of her 16-day-old daughter in 2021.

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A mother convicted in the death of her infant daughter in Luzerne County has been sentenced to decades in prison.

Jennifer Travinski of Larksville was sentenced Monday in Luzerne County court to 26 and a half to 53 years in prison.

Travinski, 46, was found guilty in December of third-degree murder, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, and drug charges.

Investigators said Travinski took fentanyl while she was pregnant. After she gave birth, there was fentanyl in her breast milk, and that's what led to the death of her 16-day-old daughter, Arya, in November of 2021.

Jennifer and her husband, Gary Travinski, 41, were arrested and charged in November of 2022.

Gary Travinski pleaded no contest to child endangerment charges in October 2023.
