MOCANAQUA, Pa. — A man from Luzerne County faces theft charges Tuesday after allegedly stealing from his former workplace.

State Police say James Zarr stole more than $170,000 from the Mocanaqua Polish Falcons Social Club. The money went missing over a one-year period starting in August of 2021. The investigation began in November of 2022.

Zarr worked as the bar steward at the time when the money went missing, but he resigned when an audit into the missing funds began.

Zarr told investigators in Luzerne County that he did not steal from the club and blamed the missing money on computer inaccuracies.

He was arraigned Tuesday and sent to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, bail was set at $75,000.
