Friday morning, crews shut down the Market Street Bridge connecting Wilkes-Barre and Kingston.
The shut down was brought on by the rising Susquehanna River levels caused by the heavy rains and melting snow.
The bridge will be most likely closed through the weekend.
Cranes were brought in to build the flood gate walls on both sides of the bridge.
Gates are also closed at Millennium Circle and at the Luzerne County Courthouse.
