Man shot during custody exchange at Turkey Hill in Hazle Township

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A shot was fired during a domestic dispute Thursday in Hazle Township. 

Police were called to the reported shooting at Turkey Hill on Station Circle near Hazleton just after 4:45pm.

Officials say that a 30-year-old-man and a 31-year-old woman were exchanging custody of their 4-year-old daughter before the shooting took place.  At some point during the exchange, a domestic dispute began, which led to the shot being fired. 

The male involved in the dispute was shot in the leg. He left the scene with the 4-year-old and was located by West Hazleton Police near E Cranberry Ave and 5th Street in West Hazleton. 

Police have not said who fired the shot, or how exactly the man was located in West Hazleton. 

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

Officials say there is no immediate threat to the public, and this is an isolated incident. 

As of Thursday evening, Police have not charged the man or the woman, and the investigation is ongoing. 

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this shooting to all PSP Hazleton at 570-459-3890.
