Teen sentenced in Nanticoke shooting

John Pearce pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, arson, and other charges after a drive-by shooting in Nanticoke.

NANTICOKE, Pa. — A teen could spend up to a decade behind bars after a drive-by shooting in Luzerne County.

Back in July of 2023, a 14-year-old was shot in the head near the intersection of West Green and Maple Streets in Nanticoke.

Police say John Pearce, 17, was in the car while James Alberto pulled the trigger.

Pearce pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, arson, theft, and other charges.

He was immediately sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison.

Alberto remains locked up in Luzerne County.
