LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — A man who admitted to homicide and conspiracy charges in Luzerne County has been sentenced to prison.
David Alzugaray pleaded guilty Thursday to criminal homicide and criminal conspiracy to commit homicide and was sentenced to 17 to 45 years in prison.
Police say that Alzugaray and Roberto Torner killed Jose Herran in 2015 in Foster Township.
Torner was sentenced in August to life in prison after a jury in May convicted him of first-degree murder and related charges in connection with the homicide.
Police believe that in the fall of 2015, Herran was shot, his body was dismembered and discarded in the Lehigh River, and other incriminating evidence was burned in a pit on a property owned by Torner in Foster Township.
The property was searched by state police in May of 2018. Both men were arrested in 2020.
