Luzerne County man charged with assault after attacking former roommate

Police say the man hit the victim with a collapsible baton Thursday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre.

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A Hanover Township man is in custody after an assault Thursday afternoon on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre. 

According to police, 45-year-old Alex Vigo attacked the victim with a collapsible baton just before 1pm yesterday. 

The victim, a former roommate who had evicted Vigo from her residence, told police Vigo had threatened her and tried to hit her in the head with the baton. 

She told police she used her arm to protect her face, and that Vigo ran after striking her in the arm. 

After police spoke with the victim, they located Vigo on South Main Street and took him into custody. 

Vigo is facing Aggravated Assault, Harassment, and related charges. He was arraigned Friday in Luzerne County and remains in custody unable to post a $125,000 bail. 

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
