Two held for shooting in Luzerne County

Pair was arrested Tuesday, three days after a man was shot in Dennison Township

LUZERNE COUNTY, Pa. — Two people are in custody following a shooting this weekend in Luzerne County that left a man injured.

Shaine Irvin Hawk, 29, and Robin Grace Sterner, 24, were both arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person, state police said. They are awaiting arraignment.

Troopers said they assaulted Stephen Schwika on Saturday afternoon at his home in Dennison Township.

Schwika, authorities said, knows the pair because he previous purchased solar panels from Hawk off Facebook Marketplace and Hawk's romantic partner, Sterner, did some work for Schwika.

Just after 5 p.m. Saturday, Hawk and Sterner pulled up to Schwika's home and heard Hawk say that Schwika owed something. Then came a bang, a flash and the pain of "buckshot" pelting his face.

Schwika, however, stayed on his feet and fled for the nearby woods, he told authorities. Hawk and Sterner gave chase. Two more gunshots erupted behind Schwika as he ran.

Finally, he managed to lose them and made his way to a neighbor's home to report what had happened.

Hawk and Sterner were in custody a few days later and facing criminal charges.
